Module 1: Welcome and getting set up

Send your first safe prompt

Lesson 5 of 6 · 3 min

Allow 3 minutes, including any practice below.

Try a fictional message

Open a new ChatGPT chat in your approved account. Use this practice text. It contains no real customer details.

Rewrite this fictional office notice in plain NZ English.
Use a friendly tone and no more than 60 words.
Keep the facts. Do not add a date, price, or promise.
Notice: Our reception desk is closed for a staff meeting from
10 am to 11 am on the day of the meeting. Please leave a message
and we will respond after reception reopens.

Read the answer before asking for another version. A suitable draft is:

Reception is closed for a staff meeting from 10 am to 11 am. Please leave a message. We will respond after reception reopens.

This is an illustrative draft. Your result may differ.

Check three things

  • Did it keep the closure time?
  • Did it add a made-up date or response deadline?
  • Is it clear enough for someone arriving at reception?

If the answer adds a promise, reply:

Remove the added response deadline. Keep only the facts
in my original notice. Show the revised notice only.

Save a useful pattern

Keep the prompt in your own approved notes. It has a task, a tone, an output limit, source material, and a rule against invented details. You will build on that pattern in the next module.

If you reach an account limit, compare the source notice with the illustrative draft yourself. You can still practise the review step and return to ChatGPT later.
