Module 3: ChatGPT features for work
Understand memory and connected apps
Allow 4 minutes, including any practice below.
Choose memory deliberately
Memory can use relevant preferences or details across conversations when enabled. It does not retain every detail. Use it only under your organisation's rules. A harmless style preference is a safer learning example than a client detail.
Review Settings > Personalization > Memory. Controls vary by account. Ask what ChatGPT remembers, then check the settings yourself. Removing source chats and separately stored memories may both be needed.
Understand connected apps
Connected apps, previously often called connectors, can bring information from services such as Google Drive into a chat. Apps may sit inside plugins. Access depends on your plan, region, account permissions, and workspace settings.
Current help describes Settings > Plugins for setup. Very old mobile versions may show Apps. Installation does not replace account authorisation or your employer's approval.
An app uses the connected account's available access. Some apps can also change information. Read the permission request and the provider's terms before connecting anything. Use a setting that asks for review when available. Do not assume every action will always prompt.
Preview a useful work task
With an approved connection, a learner might ask:
Find the approved reception procedure in our Google Drive.
Summarise its five main steps. Link to the exact source.
Flag if you cannot confirm which version is current.
Do not edit, share, or send any files or messages.Open the original document and check it. If you have no approved connection, use the fictional procedure from the writing-blocks lesson. This course does not require connecting a business account.
Four-minute checkpoint
Write down one preference that could be appropriate for memory. Name one source an approved app could help you find. State who would approve the connection and what you would verify in the original file.
Important: Changing an app permission is not the same as removing its access. Disconnect an app, or ask your administrator to disable it, when access is no longer appropriate.
