Module 1: Welcome and getting set up
Choose an account and understand the plans
Allow 3 minutes, including any practice below.
Use an approved account
Go to ChatGPT and use the sign-up or sign-in option. Follow your employer's account rules. If you have been invited to a work workspace, use that invitation and check which workspace you are in before starting.
Do not share one person's login across the team. Ask your manager which account and workspace to use.
Know the plan names
| Plan | What it means for a small business learner |
|---|---|
| Free | Start with basic practice. Uploads and data analysis have limited access. |
| Go | A paid individual plan with more access than Free. |
| Plus | A paid individual plan with more tools and capacity. |
| Pro | A paid individual plan with higher usage options. |
| Business | A managed team workspace with billing and admin controls. It needs at least two Standard or Premium seats. |
| Enterprise | An organisation plan for deployments that need more advanced controls. Discuss it with your IT team. |
ChatGPT Team is now called ChatGPT Business. A paid personal plan does not become a Business workspace simply because you use it for work.
OpenAI does not train on Business or Enterprise workspace data by default. Your organisation must still approve the use, data, and settings. Buying a plan does not itself meet your New Zealand privacy obligations.
Make a practical choice
Complete this course's core exercises with Free or your existing approved account. If you hit a limit, pause or use the text alternative. Read the current plan page before buying anything.
Checkpoint: Name your account type and, if applicable, your work workspace. If you cannot tell, ask your administrator before using work information.
